During this period of concern over exposure to a viral agent that is capable of creating a debilitating respiratory disease, we can be comforted in knowing that there are steps that we can take to aid in our body’s defense of this and other pathogenic agents. Chiropractic Physicians have been essential Healthcare Providers and are currently considered as such under Florida and Federal laws and in the guidelines just released by the US Department of Homeland Security to assist in identifying critical workers for the Covid-19 crises. On March 28th the CISA (Cybersecurity & Infrastructure Security Agency) updated their memorandum to reflect this designation. At JHC our health care services include detection and management of disease and injury. We want to emphasize that, at this time, we are only accepting patients with musculoskeletal conditions (bodily aches and pains). We are not trained or licensed to treat medical conditions, nor will we be screening for Covid-19 by laboratory methods. We do suggest self assessment regarding the recommendations for isolating ourselves, patients and caregivers alike, if we meet the criteria for that behavior. Our treatment protocols, while engaging the acute conditions associated with your primary concerns, have the added benefit of producing physiological responses that enhance your immunological functions. Part of this response is due to the stress relief associated with touch. With the current emphasis on social distancing many of us are limited in this very necessary human need. We have always and will continue to follow the proper techniques of reducing the transmission of pathogenic agents during and surrounding our treatments, therefore providing you the security of safe care.
